"Two newsletters in as many days," I hear you cry. "She's getting carried away!" Well, that may be true, but I think I have good reason. Those of you visiting the site regularly may remember that a while back I announced in the news section that there would be a reissue of The Fionavar Tapestry by Roc, GGK's U.S. publishers, and that there would be new artwork to mark the relaunch. Well, now I get to be the one who announces to the world who created that artwork, and you get to be the ones who find out first!

Janny Wurts and Don Maitz have created beautiful covers for the new edition. Even apart from the actual beauty of these new covers, this artistic collaboration is extra special because it marks a departure for the celebrated and influential husband-wife pair -it is the first time they have collaborated on a professional work. Not only that, but for the last decade Janny Wurts has reserved her time for doing artwork for her own books, which makes these covers doubly special.

To mark the occasion, Wurts and Maitz have issued a press release about the covers, talking about their feelings at having the opportunity to work on The Fionavar Tapestry, and describing how they went about the process of collaboration. GGK also says a few words about the artwork and his pleasure at having such distinguished fantasy artists work on Fionavar.

And I have the scoop! You can view the new covers on Bright Weavings, and read the press release. This is the first time they're being made public anywhere. The Summer Tree is being published in mid-April, with the other two volumes coming out shortly after. Thanks must go to Roc for allowing me to post the artwork and press release on the site.

And that's it from me for now. There's plenty more stuff lined up to go on the site in the next few weeks, so you'll be hearing from me again soonish, but I think this news deserved a newsletter of its own. Although I will mention here that Thunderchild has almost outdone Julia Roberts in his 'speech' on the forums accepting his bonus prize for funniest suggestion for newsletter name...

Bye for now,

Deborah
