>UNDER HEAVEN Artwork

Our big news is the unveiling of the UK and US/Canadian cover art for UNDER HEAVEN, which we think you will agree are stunning: http://www.brightweavings.com/artgallery/covunderheaven.htm

>UNDER HEAVEN - ON the cover

The upcoming Summer 2010 Penguin Canada catalogue will feature UNDER HEAVEN on its cover. This is the second time a GGK novel has graced the catalogue cover - YSABEL also did so in 2007. Within the catalogue will be a two page spread showcasing the backlist titles, complete with a new look.
Here is the catalogue cover: http://www.brightweavings.com/books/underheavencataloguecover.htm And here is the inside spread which includes the excellent new cover artwork: http://www.brightweavings.com/books/underheavenspread2.htm

>THE SUMMER TREE Marks a Milestone

Did you read GGK's first novel when it was first published? This October was the THE SUMMER TREE's 25th anniversary. GGK and Martin Springett - whose gorgeous, original artwork is still available on the UK editions of the Tapestry - met up to celebrate. Here are photos and some thoughts from that meeting: http://brightweavings.com/news/summertree25thcopy.htm

>GGK's Words

On occasion, GGK writes op-ed pieces for the Globe and Mail. His most recent article focused on a recent "spate of spats" in the literary world, some regarding genres and catagories: http://www.brightweavings.com/ggkswords/authorsdrawtheirknives.htm

There has been a new interview, conducted by Alaya Dawn Johnson, added to the site's 'GGK's Words' section. Enjoy it here: http://www.brightweavings.com/ggkswords/johnson.htm

>Audio Editions

For those who are eager to complete their Tapestry collection, THE DARKEST ROAD is now available online at Audible.com and iTunes.

>Poetry contest to win an ARC of UNDER HEAVEN

For quite a few years now, there has been a poetry contest hosted in the forums on Brightweavings, superlatively judged by Professor Neil Randall, with the winner receiving a paperback copy of their choice of any of GGK's works. We are delighted to announce that this year is no exception. The form this time is ballads, and the prize is to be an Advanced Reading Copy, or galley, of UNDER HEAVEN. The contest has always been a great deal of fun - with a fair bit of frivolity and more than that of wit - and many are hard pressed to say which is more impressive, the submissions, or the commentary offered by Prof. Randall regarding the form and the winning entry and runners-up. So try your hand and show your skills, or just drop in and enjoy the forum fun: http://www.brightweavings.com/forums/messages/2/143095.html?1257973198

>Art Gallery

Along with the forthcoming covers for UNDER HEAVEN, the art gallery has been updated with new Canadian covers for:

- SAILING TO SARANTIUM -

- LORD OF EMPORERS -
http://www.brightweavings.com/artgallery/cannewemperors.htm
- THE LIONS OF AL-RASSAN -

>Scholarship

There is a new piece in the professional scholarship section, entitled "Kay's Provençe: From Arbonne to Ysabel" - http://www.brightweavings.com/scholarship/kaysprovence.htm . It was composed and presented by Fay Ringel.

Morgon Mills has kindly and deftly translated another academic paper for the site, this time by Pierre-Louis Maloss. "Justinian Visited and Revisited" may be read in English here: http://www.brightweavings.com/scholarship/justinienenglish.htm . Or if you prefer you may read "Justinien Visité et Revisité" in its original French, here: http://www.brightweavings.com/scholarship/justinien.htm

>Fun Stuff

Enjoy jigsaw puzzles? Head over to the Fun Stuff section for the latest addition: an online jigsaw puzzle of a cover for The FIONAVAR TAPESTRY - http://www.brightweavings.com/funstuff/index.htm .

A few denizens rose to a challenge proposed in the UNDER HEAVEN tour journal discussion thread, and created some quite impressive cover art attempts. If you would like to see some of the efforts, or contribute your own, have a look here: http://www.brightweavings.com/forums/messages/143082/143083.html#POST77918

-----

We'll be back soon with more updates, including book tour dates as they become available and a link for the new novel's website!

Enjoy,

Elizabeth
