NAMING THE NEWSLETTER
"...Elena looked up for a moment past his shoulder at all the circling, luminous stars of the Ember Night. And it came to her as a wonderful and joyous thought that every single diamond of those stars would have a name."
- Tigana
It may be because I am reading Tigana for the fiftieth time (or thereabouts) at the moment, or because I saw the film 'Sunshine' last night; about identity, assimilation and family names in three generations of one Hungarian-Jewish family, and it could be for neither of those reasons, but we're going to name the new Bright Weavings newsletter. Or rather, one of you is going to name it. By now, you will have received the first newsletter, which I hope you enjoyed, but before the next one gets sent out, we're holding a competition to name it. So it will become "X:" The Bright Weavings Newsletter.
I'll be judging, but GGK has promised to have a look and make comments. Having said that, he claims that his weakness for bad puns undermines his credibility as a judge. The prize will be a set of Martin Springett's 'booklarks' and a copy of Martin's new Galadan poster, signed by both GGK and Martin.
So, all you have to do is get your thinking caps on and come up with a fun, clever and relevant name for the newsletter. Francois Vincent, you are at liberty to enter any and all naming suggestions you've already made in the forums, and you've got plenty more opportunities as well; everyone can send in as many suggestions as they like.
Just reply to this email with your suggestions.
The competition will be open for two weeks, and will end on March 19th.
Let the fun begin!
